Anyone can learn this beautiful healing art. I am often asked about the difference between Mahatma and Usui Reiki.
I experience Usui Reiki as very grounding and Mahatma Reiki as pure light (transcendent). The radiance of the energy of the symbols is different as well as their origin. Mahatma Reiki has Egyptian-Goddess roots. Mahatma translates as 'I AM' Presence. The nine symbols are quite easy to learn, memorize and use.

USUI REIKI 'UNIVERSAL LIFE FORCE ENERGY
Reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal life force energy. Rei means God’s wisdom or Spirit. Ki is the Japanese word for life force energy. This is the energy that animates all living things. It is the same energy that the Chinese call Chi, the Hindu’s Prana and others know as Divine Love, Manna or Light. Reiki is actually spiritually guided life force energy .
Reiki is an ancient healing art form that involves the simple laying on of hands. A Reiki session treats the whole person; body, mind, emotions and spirit. The benefits are many including deep relaxation, peace of mind, and feelings of well being and security. Reiki balances the body’s energy centers and helps the body to heal faster. A Japanese monk by the name of Mikao Usui founded this ancient healing system with Tibetan and Sanskrit roots in the 1800’s. It was introduced into the United States in the 1930’s by a woman named Hawaya Takata. A Reiki treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through you. The hands usually feel like mini heating pads. It is very soothing, calming and promotes deep relaxation. Treatments have healed or greatly improved health conditions and illnesses every kind. Reiki creates a tangible experience of our connection to the divine, for the practitioner as well as the one receiving the treatment.
Reiki energy is not hampered by clothing, therefore the person receiving Reiki can remain dressed. Because there is no direct manipulation of the body it can be used on babies and the ill and elderly. It can be used on yourself, loved ones, animals, over food to bless and purify it, on seeds and plants, and to clear rooms. It can also be sent across a distance to a person. Reiki is gentle, relaxing and eases aches and pains. Doctors, nurses and chiropractors are being trained in Reiki as it facilitates healing and sensitivity/awareness of the client. Reiki is finding its place in the Hospice and hospital communities due to its calming, relaxing and healing benefits. Reiki has the potential to be miraculous. I have personally witnessed the healing of fibromyalgia, chronic pain, numbness in the arm, hernia and emotional issues. Anyone can learn Reiki. Those feeling drawn to the laying on of hands or to any kind of healing art can learn Reiki. It enhances massage and other healing modalities. Reiki is often referred to as a spiritual self growth tool. It induces relaxation and the meditative state.

In this class you will receive the attunement to open and align your energy body more fully to the flow of Universal life force energy. You will learn about the history of Reiki, how it made its way from Japan to the United States, how Reiki works and what healing is. This class covers the human chakra energy system and the Reiki hand positions for a full body session. You will practice how to give and receive a Reiki treatment and how to do a self treatment. The Munay-Ki are the nine great rites of initiation of the medicine way. The word munay means “I love you”. The Munay-Ki are the nine gates that heal us and transform our human energy field into that of homo luminous.
For years the prophecies of the ancient Americas have spoken about the possibility of a new human appearing on the planet – one who lives free of fear and resides in his or her transcendent nature. The Munay-Ki are the luminous codes for the new human. They are delivered in the form of energetic transmissions. The ninth rite, the “Creator Rite” was delivered in the summer of 2006 at the Holy Mountains in the Andes. The nine initiations of the Munay-Ki have only been available until recently to the high wisdom keepers of the Americas.
The nine rites are common to all shamanic traditions, although they are expressed differently in different cultures. They derive from the great initiations from the Hindus Valley that were brought to the Americas by the first medicine men and women who crossed the Baring Straights from Siberia some 30,000 years ago. These courageous travelers were the Laika, the Earthkeepers of old.
The Laika have always been ordinary men and women who live extraordinary lives. They were not born with special gifts from Spirit; they have acquired uncommon grace and power through prayer, study of the wisdom teachings or insights, and discipline. Some grew to be renowned leaders and healers, while others lived quiet lives, raising their children and growing corn. The Laika felt that people would come to the Munay-Ki when they were ready and felt a calling to do so. The Munay-Ki teachings are founded on Five Great Principles: Generosity, Moderation, Integrity, Truthfulness, and Nonviolence.
